Project Spotlight: Building Solar Foundations in Sea Winds

Grace Solar Mounting Systems Take Root in Chiba, Japan

Project Highlight:

Multiple ground-mounted power plants in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, have been successfully grid-connected using Grace Solar's specialized aluminum alloy mounting systems, designed to withstand harsh marine environments.

In Chiba Prefecture of Japan’s Kanto region, multiple ground-mounted power plants using Grace Solar aluminum alloy photovoltaic mounting systems have been successfully constructed and connected to the grid. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Chiba faces persistent sea winds and salt mist year-round, posing serious challenges to the corrosion resistance and structural strength of PV mounts. Leveraging specialized mounting solutions and agile localization services, Grace Solar has established a stable and efficient solar array that showcases the brand's commitment to reliability in demanding environments.

Anti-Corrosion Design

Tailored to Chiba’s marine climate with high salt mist and humidity, Grace Solar optimized the surface treatment and structural sealing of its mounting systems. The aluminum alloy structure features multi-layer anti-corrosion coating, and critical connection points are designed to resist salt mist, effectively blocking corrosive agents. This ensures long-term structural stability in highly corrosive environments and is backed by international certifications including JIS, TUV, and UL.

Wind-Resistant Engineering

Chiba frequently experiences monsoons and typhoons. Through wind tunnel simulations and structural analysis, Grace Solar optimized the wind resistance design, reinforcing joints and improving load distribution. This enables stable performance under strong wind loads, ensuring plant safety during severe weather. Our engineering team utilizes a 2,000m² experiment center to validate designs against global standards like AS/NZS1170.

Coastal-Optimized Solutions

Considering soft soil and high groundwater levels in coastal areas, Grace Solar provided tailored foundation solutions and installation techniques to ensure mounting system stability under complex geological conditions. The lightweight aluminum material and modular design significantly improved construction efficiency and adaptability in coastal environments.

This project exemplifies how Grace Solar integrates site-specific engineering with our global experience of 48GW cumulative installed capacity across diverse terrains.
